Our teamOrganisationBackground

Home-Start Family Support Centre is a voluntary organisation which supports families with at least one child under the age of 5 years.

The aims and objectives of our charity are to send out a fully trained member of staff, a Volunteer or Family Project Worker to visit families in their own homes who are experiencing problematic issues and crisis.  We offer this support for as long as it is required and feel that the family is able to manage without further assistance being needed.

The families at Home-Start are continually suffering all sorts of domestic crisis these include: - Domestic Violence, Depression, Poor Housing, Drug & Alcohol related issues and Social Inclusion.  One of our main aims is to prevent family breakdown and we are able to do this by making regular visits, offering counselling and training as and when required.

Some of the training that we offer to families include: - Parenting Skills, Self Awareness, Home Safety, Children’s Behavioural Issues, “Returners to Work” and Interviewing Skills.  We also work with other agencies these include: - Citizens Advise Bureau, Social Services, RELATE, Drug & Alcohol Counselling and Debt Counselling Agencies.

At the present time 38% of our children are on the Child Protection Register, many of our children are wheelchair users and have several disabilities.  97% of our families are in receipt of state benefits.
